UNESCO included traditional Crimean Tatar Ornament Örnek in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
“Congratulations to the Crimean Tatar people and the whole of Ukraine on a landmark victory. UNESCO included Örnek in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. It is a worthy recognition of the originality of qırımlılar and the beauty of Ukraine’s cultural mosaic,” President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky posted .
As reported, in July 2020, the Crimean Tatar Ornament Örnek as an element of the intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine was put on the preliminary UNESCO list for the possible subsequent inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Development of the nomination dossier “Örnek – Crimean Tatar Ornament” was a long-term initiative of the Crimean Tatar NGO “Alem”.
The inscription of Ukraine’s nomination “Örnek” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity within the framework of the 16th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was scheduled for December 14.
