TODAY – STUDENT-INVENTOR, TOMORROW – INVENTOR-SCIENTIST!

This is Sofia Pavlova – a short while ago she became the winner of the INDONESIA INVENTORS DAY “IID 2021” competition.

She received gold medal and an award for the best environmental project: the girl presented a virtual laboratory for environmental monitoring. Using drones and ground-based robotic systems, the system collects information, displays monitoring data via a web interface and gives advice on the best option for maintaining clean air.

Sofia is a first-year student at the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”. However, it is not her first award. As a member of the team of the Junior Academy of Sciences, the girl took part in the International Exhibition of Inventors INOVA 2021 in Croatia, and also won gold medal there. Before that, she was a participant in the Sikorsky Challenge 2020 Festival of Innovative Projects.

The girl says that she joined the scientific and technical work while studying at the Polytechnic Lyceum of KPI; she entered the ninth grade of the Lyceum, and then realized that she had made the right choice. Under the guidance of the scientific supervisor, University lecturer and Head of the Kyiv branch of the Junior Academy of Sciences Hanna Saryboga, Sofia won her victories. Now, studying in the specialty “Information Systems and Technologies”, she seeks to implement new technical and technological ideas, creating new software products.

By the way, at the INOVA 2021 competition in Zagreb, there was another first-year student of the KPI in the Ukrainian team, and also from the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science, Olga Borovyk. She won silver medal, demonstrating a lens with variable optical characteristics. Thanks to this design, it is not necessary to change the glasses, the lenses will “adapt” to human vision.
