Water from Dnipro not to reach Crimea for nearly 12 months – Ukrhydroenergo

After Russian invaders blew up the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir, water will not be supplied to the Crimean Peninsula via the North Crimean Canal for at least a year.

Ihor Syrota, CEO of Ukrhydroenergo, announced this on Radio Svoboda (lit. Radio Liberty), Ukrinform reports.

“There is no water supply to Crimea, because the water level in the Kakhovka reservoir is already much lower than the level needed to go through the Crimean Canal. Therefore, most likely, water will not be supplied to Crimea for at least a year. In case of de-occupation, we will not be able to provide them with water at first either,” Syrota noted.

He added that Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions will suffer from water shortages.
