From 4th to 7th April 2025, a delegation of 6 representatives from ESN Ukraine took part in the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) in Ancona, Italy — the largest annual gathering of the Erasmus Student Network. This year’s EGM brought together over 1100 participants from across Europe and beyond, uniting volunteers, student leaders, and changemakers in a unique platform for exchange, cooperation, and solidarity.
As part of the official EGM programme, ESN Ukraine made a meaningful contribution by organising two thematic sessions, hosting a moving exhibition, and actively participating in the EGM Expo:
- Session 1: Inclusive Colour Sequences for Data Visualisation and Design
Led by Valerii Kholoimov and Sofiia Hoiian, this interactive workshop addressed the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in visual communication. Participants explored how thoughtful, inclusive colour choices can improve clarity and accessibility for audiences of all abilities. - Session 2: Navigating Scholarship Diversity: Access to Scholarship Opportunities in Europe
Presented by Pavlo Garadzhii (ESN Ukraine) and Jenny Nygard (Academic Cooperation Association), this session guided participants through the diverse landscape of scholarship opportunities available to international students in Europe, while highlighting existing challenges and opportunities for improving access to academic mobility.
In addition to the sessions, our delegation hosted the “Unissued Diplomas” exhibition, commemorating Ukrainian students whose lives were tragically taken by the war. The exhibition shares the stories of 40 Ukrainian students who will never graduate, standing as a powerful reminder of the human cost of conflict. Since its launch on 24th February 2023, the exhibition has been displayed in over 110 locations worldwide.
During the EGM Expo, ESN Ukraine had the opportunity to promote Ukrainian universities as potential destinations for student mobility. This was an important chance to highlight the resilience, academic excellence, and international opportunities within Ukraine’s higher education system — reaffirming Ukraine’s place within the global academic community.
EGM Ancona was more than just an event — it became a space for building meaningful connections, learning, and solidarity. Our delegation met passionate volunteers from Europe and other parts of the world, including fellow Ukrainians representing other National Organisations (NOs). Together, we shared experiences, strengthened friendships, and amplified the voice of Ukraine within the Erasmus Generation.
ESN Ukraine is proud to be part of this inspiring international community, and we remain dedicated to fostering inclusivity, promoting academic opportunities, and standing in solidarity with students in times of both peace and adversity.
National Erasmus+ Office – Ukraine helped ESN – Ukraine team during the preparation period of the visit and exhibition.
