At the Publishing House “Akademperiodyka” of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, a textbook “Systems and Methods of Artificial Intelligence” has been published, prepared by Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Mykhailo Zgurovsky and Professor Yurii Zaichenko.

The publication was created by the Educational and Scientific Complex “Institute for Applied System Analysis” of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the NAS of Ukraine within the framework of the Targeted Comprehensive Program “Scientific Foundations of the Functioning and Ensuring the Development Conditions of the Scientific and Publishing Complex of the NAS of Ukraine.”
The textbook is addressed to students, postgraduates, teachers, and researchers of the specialties Computer Sciences and Systems Analysis and Management, as well as to engineers, programmers, and IT specialists who implement intelligent technologies in their professional activity.
It is intended to become not only a study manual but also a scientific and methodological foundation for the training of a new generation of specialists capable of systemic thinking, developing, and implementing innovative solutions in the field of artificial intelligence.
The publication has an important mission — to promote the increase of the competitiveness of Ukrainian education and science, the strengthening of national intellectual potential, and the integration of Ukraine into the global space of artificial intelligence.
The textbook is the first comprehensive Ukrainian-language edition, in which the majority of the main directions of modern development of artificial intelligence are systematically summarized — from classical models of neural networks and systems of fuzzy logic to the newest technologies of deep learning, computational intelligence, evolutionary algorithms, natural language processing, and intelligent analysis of big data.
- The 16 chapters of the textbook cover:
- the theoretical foundations of artificial neural networks, their architectures, and learning algorithms;
- systems of fuzzy logic and neuro-fuzzy models, including ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System — adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system) and TSK (Takagi–Sugeno–Kang — fuzzy inference model);
- the Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH) — a unique Ukrainian contribution to machine learning;
- genetic, swarm, and evolutionary algorithms, which form the basis of computational intelligence;
- hybrid architectures of deep learning — CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks) and RNN (Recurrent Neural Networks);
- application of artificial intelligence models in medicine, economics, security, technical systems, and social management;
- modern systems of natural language processing (NLP) — from the classical program ELIZA (Electronic Linguistic Artificial Intelligence and Zero-Output Application) to the models BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) and GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) of the new generation.
A separate chapter is devoted to the history of the development of artificial intelligence — from the ideas of Alan Turing to the achievements of Ukrainian scientists Victor Glushkov, Mykola Amosov, and Oleksii Ivakhnenko, who stood at the origins of world cybernetics and machine learning.
The textbook is distinguished by a combination of deep theoretical analysis and practical orientation. All chapters contain examples of algorithm implementation, educational tasks, visualizations, and demonstrations of the use of artificial intelligence technologies in real systems.
The publication of this textbook is a significant event for the Ukrainian scientific and educational community. It forms a national Ukrainian-language knowledge base in the field of artificial intelligence, which will determine the future of education, science, economy, and technological development of our state.
