The scientific community in Ukraine and the Ukrainian scientific diaspora have made significant contributions to the development of particle physics since the field’s inception in the early 20th century. However, Ukrainian contributions have often been attributed to the “Russian Empire” or the “Soviet Union,” and sometimes to countries to which Ukrainian scientists emigrated, saving their lives or continuing their research.
2026 marks the 10th anniversary of Ukraine’s associate membership at CERN. On this occasion, we would like to bring together physicists, historians of science political scientists, and all those interested to discuss Ukrainian contributions to particle physics, issues of scientific heritage, and to document what is happening now.
This workshop will be held as a hybrid event in Ukrainian and English with two venues: at CERN and in Ukraine, as well as on Zoom. Information about registration, topics and deadlines for abstract submission can be found in the “Practical Information” and “Scientific Program” sections.
